3 Easy Ways to Get a Visa to Vietnam for Taiwanese

Whether you are a first-time traveler or a frequent visitor to a foreign country, the first thing you want to worry about is getting your visa. Fortunately, there are now three ways to process your visa to enter Vietnam.

Note: For some tourists to Phu Quoc Island, you can avoid Vietnam visa if you travel to Phu Quoc Island and stay within 30 days. After arriving in Phu Quoc Island, if the tourist wants to visit other places or stay on the island for more than 30 days, the Immigration Bureau can register the visa for visitors in Phu Quoc Island.

In addition to a visa-free entry to Vietnam, people from other countries and regions must apply for a visa or apply for a visa on arrival to enter Vietnam. Visitors who are not exempt from visas to Vietnam must apply for immigration approval before entering Vietnam. Visitors who meet other relevant requirements can apply for a visa on arrival at the major international airports in Vietnam.

Initially, you can apply for your visa through the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This choice works well for travelers who have the opportunity to plan, as there is some waiting involved during the process. Travelers who choose this method will need to submit four documents to the Embassy, whether in person or by mail.

  • The first is a completed application form, which you can find on the Vietnam embassy website. The form must be filled out online, then printed out and signed. You’ll need to attach a passport photo to this document as well. The online form is highly detailed, and there is a time limit on completing it, so make sure you have 15 minutes of uninterrupted time to work on it.
  • The second component that you will need to submit to the Embassy is your original passport, which must be valid for at least six months before your departure from Vietnam.
  • The third part of the visa application process is, of course, the payment of fees. These will have to be paid with a money order or cashier’s check if you are applying by mail, but you also can use a credit card if you are processing in person.
  • The last component that you will need to submit to the Embassy is a prepaid return envelope. If you are submitting in person, you may skip this step.

If you are looking for a more straightforward route to process your visa to visit Vietnam, there are still two more alternatives. In early 2017, the Vietnam Immigration Department began to accept applications for e-visas for single-entry visits of no more than 30 days. The process requires a digital passport photo and your original passport. This choice for securing a visa is the easiest for internet-savvy travelers planning a brief trip that isn’t likely to be extended. But unfortunately, Taiwanese citizens are not applicable to this method.

The third and the easiest method of processing your visa is to do so upon your arrival in Vietnam – as known as visa on arrival. Although this may initially sound like the logical choice for last-minute trip planners, you still have to complete some preparations before. To successfully use this method, you will have to get a visa approval letter from the Immigration Department of Vietnam; however, if you are willing to do this, you will be spared the necessity of applying online and waiting on processing by the Embassy. The “Visa On Arrival” method also offers the greatest flexibility for your length of visit and number of entries, which are features you may need.

Whichever method you choose when processing your visa to enter Vietnam, there are three crucial things to remember about all of these methods:

  • They will require at least some planning. Your visa is not a detail that you can afford to overlook, so it doesn’t pay to delay.
  • You need a current passport photo. If you aren’t sure yet how you will process your visa, your best bet is to have both hardcopy and digital images available.
  • Each process requires a valid original passport.

Remember, careful planning is the key to successful and stress-free travelling. By choosing the method that fits your needs best, you’ll soon be on your way to beautiful Vietnam!
