In recent years, there have been more and more flights from Taiwan to Vietnam. Please remember that Vietnam visa is required for both tourism and business purposes for passport holders in Taiwan. Today, Taiwanese passengers can request a visa from the Vietnamese Embassy (paper-based) or request a visa on arrival at the airport. – Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months and left pages before applying for a visa to Vietnam.
– The Vietnam visa on arrival option is only applicable to those traveling by air to Vietnam.
If you want a paper-based Vietnamese visa in advance or wish to travel to Vietnam by land or sea, you can go to the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate that is closest to you. It is recommended that you get your paper-visa and nail it to your passport so that you don’t lose it. The paper-based visa is required to be processed first in Taiwan.
You can entrust the travel agency or go to the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei to apply for this visa. If you apply for a paper visa, you cannot get it immediately. The processing days is about 1-3 working days, and you can go to collect them by yourself. The application fee is NT$1,350. The cost is higher than the visa on arrival, but you can go directly to the customs through Vietnam.

This type of visa is only available after arriving at the airport in Vietnam. The fee is cheaper, but you need to wait in line. The queue time ranges from 10 minutes to 1 hour. It is suitable for travelers who want to save money and are not hurry. Although it is called the visa on arrival, it still has to apply through the online application prior upon arrival from anywhere outside Vietnam. The visa will be collected by the letter of permission printed upon arrival at Vietnam’s airports. The letter of authorization will be sent by email within 1 or 2 working days (normal processing mode), four working hours (urgent processing mode) or even 1 hour (emergency processing mode) depending on the alternative you selects when submitting the application form online. You must fill in all personal and immigration-related information online, send a printed visa permit letter (Vietnam Visa Approval Letter) to Vietnam Airport, and attach the Entry and Exit Form at the airport to receive the arrival Visa.
Only at Vietnam airport, two passport size pictures (4×6 cm) are required when you arrive in Vietnam. To get visas stamped on your passport, you have to take your passport with your authorization letter and two pictures.
